The landscape of television is becoming more diverse by the day. In effort to reflect real life series have become more inclusive and that means more characters of different races, ethnicities, and sexual preferences.

It looks as if The CW’s latest superhero series, Black Lightning, will also be in the forefront of inclusion as it introduces television’s first Black Lesbian Superhero–Thunder!

Thunder/Anissa Pierce and her girlfriend, Grace Choi

“Anissa Pierce/Thunder” (Nafessa Williams) is the oldest daughter of “Jefferson Pierce/Black Lighting.” In the comics she has the ability to alter her density becoming extremely hard, heavy, invulnerable, and super strong–so strong that when she stomps her foot she sends shock waves through the ground that sound like thunder rumbling–hence her code name. Thunder is also a lesbian in an interracial relationship with fellow superhero, an Asian woman named Grace Choi who also possesses superhuman strength, courtesy of her Amazon heritage!

Thunder’s television counterpart will possess the same powers and it is being reported she too will share her comic counterpart’s sexual preference. Black Lightning has already Chantal Thuy in a recurring role as Grace Choi. Thus far there has been only one episode of the series and Anissa comes as pretty straight-laced until she or her family are threatened. She has also begun exhibiting powers, accidentally breaking the sink in her bathroom using her density powers.

As you can see from our main picture, Anissa will be joining her father in the field. Based on what he is up against in Freeland he is going to need all the help he can get. We just wonder will he be accepting of her sexuality. In the comics, Black Lightning is not too keen of his daughter’s sexuality initially, hinting at how it makes him uncomfortable. Time will tell, but you all just be sure to catch the second episode of Black Lighting tonight at 9 PM EST, right after The Flash!  Happy viewing!

In THE POLE, after a scandal involving “Saint” Nick (Moynihan) rocks the holly jolly foundations of the North Pole, all hell breaks loose as the future of Christmas turns into a twisted power struggle for the Red Suit. As Nick, the 20th to wear the Suit, struggles with the age-old question of naughty vs. nice, his wife Mrs. Claus, aka Gretchen (Bell), works to keep the political machine that is toy production afloat. It isn’t easy as they juggle the factory elves, including Nick’s head elf Matilda (Byer) and the political activist Helenor (Zamata), as well as parenting two sons – Nick’s mini-me Harry (Cho) and the crown prince, Jack (Simons), who’s not only next in line for the Suit, but also looking to rebrand it. Reporting on all the drama in THE POLE? Cocoa (Jost), host of the North Pole News Network Program, “Morning Cocoa.”

Expected to debut in TZGZ in 2021, THE POLE is from Yeti Farm Creative (“Hotel Transylvania” Season 2, “Pete the Cat” Season 2). “Titans,” a television series based on the DC Comics superhero team consisting of former sidekicks turned adult superheroes and the teenage superheroes they mentor,  of the same name, has been renewed early for a fourth season before its third season airs in 2021.

The series was initially a DC Universe original series, but beginning its third season will be exclusively shown on HBO Max alongside other DC Comics series like “Harley Quinn,” “Young Justice,” and “Doom Patrol.” The new season is set show appearances from popular superheroes and one of Batman’s scariest foes.

In season 3, Curran Walters’ Jason Todd will finally take on the mantle of DC’s infamous anti-hero Red Hood! Titans Season 3 will also introduce Barbara Gordon and famous rogue gallery Batman villain Scarecrow!

When we meet Barbara she’ll be serving as Commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department, just like her father Jim Gordon, and she’ll be wary of the Titans’ presence as they decide to make a big move from San Francisco to Gotham City to face “a whole new set of challenges”. Scarecrow will be introduced as an inmate at Arkham Asylum but he’ll also have a second career as a profiler for the GCPD. As of now, there is no casting news on either character.

Despite the character’s death, we first revealed Donna Troy will also be returning to the series. This is good news for fans of the superheroine, who were upset by the seemingly unnecessary death.

We are here for these new plot developments in Season 3 of “Titans!” We see they are really beginning to focus on The Batman Family more with the addition of Barbara Gordon aka “Batgirl” and The Red Hood. Adding Scarecrow in the mix was definitely unexpected. His use of fear toxins and gases is sure to haunt the team.

We are not sure when Season 4 will add, but it will most likely be in 2022 if “Titans” keeps with its annual scheduling for its seasons. Perhaps we will go ahead and subscribe to HBO Max soon…
