"Power's" J.R. Ramirez (@JR8Ramirez) Joins Marvel's Jessica Jones (@JessicaJones) Cast!

All fans of the hit show Power were devastated last night as we all watched J.R. Ramirez’ character, Julio’s untimely death.

Not to worry though, Ramirez will be back on the small screen soon enough as he joins the cast of Netflix series, Marvel’s Jessica Jones. Netflix and Marvel announced today that the Power actor will be a series regular on the show as Oscar, a single father who is the new superintendent in Jessica’s building. Oscar seems to tread lightly with Jessica as he is not too sure about her powers, while his son is very intrigued by it.

Based on the Marvel Comics character created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as the troubled super-powered private investigator. Ritter can next be seen as Jessica Jones on The Defenders, which arrives next month on Netflix.

Producers are happy to have J.R.Ramirez on board with the show. Executive Producer, Melissa Rosenberg is rather enthusiastic about his new role. “J.R. is an incredible addition to our cast, bringing complex and subtle emotion and humor,” Rosenberg says. “He exudes warmth, edge and intelligence, and blends perfectly with our tone.”

We are excited to see J.R. Ramirez transition from the hard core drug dealer we grew to love in Power, to the devoted, protecting single dad in Jessica Jones. We are totally tuned in to see how J.R. will tackle this new cast and excited to feel the energy that he will bring. We will be watching! Jessica Jones season 2 is set to return to Netflix some time in 2018. Stay tuned.

Over the course of Part 4’s eight episodes, The Eldritch Terrors will descend upon Greendale. The coven must fight each terrifying threat one-by-one (The Weird, The Returned, The Darkness to name a few), all leading up to…The Void, which is the End of All Things. As the witches wage war, with the help of The Fright Club, Nick begins to slowly earn his way back into Sabrina’s heart, but will it be too late?

“Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from Day One,” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said in a statement. “The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone’s favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show. I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can’t wait for everyone to see Part Four.”

This is the second cancellation of an Archie Comics-inspired spinoff in as many weeks, with The CW‘s Katy Keene also getting axed just a matter of days ago. While both shows had disparate connections to The CW’s flagship Riverdale, fans had campaigned for all three series to continue on — and maybe even cross over with each other.

We hate to see Sabrina go! This was definitely one of our favorite series. We are wondering what the final decision to chop the series was based on. Ratings? On set drama? Perhaps we can get a spinoff off from it? Perhaps an Ambrose Spellman spinoff if we are lucky.

The CW’s “Batwoman” has seen a lot of action and drama on and behind the scenes in its first season. The largest amount of drama being the surprise and abrupt exit of the series’ star, Ruby Rose. Immediately, The CW began looking to recast for a lead, opting not to base the series on Kate Kane, but instead a new Batwoman all together underneath the cape and cowl.

Now The CW’s “Batwoman” has announced that African-American actress, Javicia Leslie, has been cast as the new Batwoman, as reposted on the series main Twitter page from Deadline.

Now The CW’s “Batwoman” has announced that African-American actress, Javicia Leslie, has been cast as the new Batwoman, as reposted on the series main Twitter page from Deadline.

Batwoman producers Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions did not look far to find their new Batwoman — Leslie is coming off a two-season run as a series regular on the Berlanti Prods./WBTV drama for CBS God Friended Me.

With Leslie’s casting, Batwoman continues to break new ground.

“I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community,” Leslie said.

Batwoman premiered last fall as the first superhero series in television history to feature an avowed LGBTQ character as the central character. Following Rose’s departure, the producers vowed to cast another LGBTQ actor in the role.

As Deadline previously reported, Leslie will play a new character in the title role who will succeed Rose’s Kate Kane. Leslie will portray Ryan Wilder who is about to become Batwoman. She’s likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She’s also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the Batsuit before her. With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. Today Ryan lives in her van with her plant. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat and could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical All-American hero.

We have to say we are looking forward to seeing Javicia as Batwoman. It definitely takes the character in a new direction and even away from the source material in DC Comics. The CW prides itself on diversity. It certainly is doing that by casting a Black and bisexual woman in this role. (The show did promise the next actress would be LGBT as well.) This is not Javicia’s first LGBT-related role as she played a lesbian on “God Friended Me” before it was canceled on CBS.

We also hope fan reaction to the new casting is somewhat kind. We know fanboys and fangirls can be quite brutal when it comes to their favorite superheroes being altered. Now, the final question is what will Kate Kane’s ultimate fate be. Will Ruby Rose reprise her role just long enough for her to say a proper goodbye to the character she brought to life?

However, now it seems, singer and actress, Janelle Monae is putting in her bid to play Storm in the upcoming “Black Panther” sequel. In fact, she even approached the film’s writer and director, Ryan Coogler, about the opportunity!

She reportedly nominated herself for the role to Ryan, who stopped by her Atlanta-based recording studio when he was in town, working on the first movie.

“I definitely have thrown it out there,” Monae told Empire. “One of my dreams has always been to play Storm. I don’t know if she comes in Black Panther, but it would be a dream to have her in it. I don’t know where they are with that. A lot of women have played Storm and they’ve done an exceptional job, and I would love to be in that line of artists and get to do Storm justice.”

We are here for Janelle’s desire to be Storm and we hope she will make an appearance in the “Black Panther” sequel, introducing her to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As you may already know, Storm is one of Black Panther’s love interest. The two eventually married and for a time she was Queen of Wakanda. However, the marriage was short lived after a war between the X-Men and Avengers forced them to take sides against one another.

Janelle would indeed do the role of Storm justice, however, we would prefer to see a darker-skinned Black woman portray her. Storm is a native of Kenya, and grew up in Cairo, Egypt. She’s traditionally been portrayed as dark-skinned in the comics and we can stand to see a woman of her complexion empowered and all mighty in these movies. Positive reinforcement is real!
