Everyone, who’s anyone, knows Demetria McKinney is an amazing actress! Unfortunately, her time with various Tyler Perry productions, most notably her role as “Janine Payne” on House Of Payne, has caused most people to forget she is also a phenomenal singer! Recently, Demetria flexed her vocal cords to deliver her own powerful rendition of our national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Bayou Classic football game in Louisiana. The fans there were in for a real treat. Let’s be honest though; lately when singers have attempted to sway crowds with this song, the results have been lackluster. Does anyone recall Queen Latifah or Renee Fleming’s renditions at 2013 and 2014’s Super Bowls respectively? Right–NEVER AGAIN!
Hollywood, despite its California location, can be cold; freezing out the most talented individuals on the planet for the opportunity to make a quick buck. Thus, it is not for the weak minded or faint of heart. Those who want to be stars and masters of their craft learn to roll with the punches and that rejection is like breathing air—involuntary and a necessary. Few directors know this better than Princess Monique. After years of work and preparation this amazing director is releasing a new film, becoming one of the entertainment industry’s rising stars!
Pretty as a picture and a master of cinematography, Princess Monique is truly a rare combination of a beautiful woman who equally as well put together with her work. Hailing from the mean streets of Cleveland, Ohio; Princess was sheltered from the mean streets of the city by her family. They wanted to shield her from her outside environment; thus she spent lots of time inside and watching television. “I grew up watching television…all the shows you know and love…’The Jeffersons,’ ‘227,’ all that!” From television she realized she wanted to do something with film; and directing and producing came naturally to her. Although her path seems divinely laid out for her, she was blessed with guidance from her mentors, Bill Duke (Predator, Get Rich or Die Trying), Chip Fields-Hurd (Girlfriends, The Parkers, Meet The Browns) and Daren Grant (Diary of a Mad Black Woman) and Pamela Fryman (How I Met Your Mother, Just Shoot Me). “They are just so amazing and you cannot help but learn so much from them. I love their insight into the industry…I’m blessed to have him all of them in my life and be able to learn from them…” Since film became her passion, Princess Monique has directed and produced Man Made (2002), The Call (2002), and Seasons Of Love (2014).
No night can ever be dull when Tameka “Tiny” Harris is in the mix! Yes, our favorite “R&B star turned mom and reality TV star,” is doing it big with her own brand of fun–and tequila! “Tiny’s Tequila” as it is simply, cutely, and affectionately called; is launching its brand with with quite the punch via a national commercial and a party! The commercial will debut this Saturday, November 29th, during the Bayou Classic football game. In the advertisement, Tiny and a few of her famous friends will be taking selfies, laughing, and celebrating her latest venture and womanhood in general. Tiny’s Ladies’ Night Out also has a website which offer viewers the chance to see additional footage from the commercial as well as the chance to win great prizes. Unlike her infamous older sister, Kim; Kendall Jenner is amassing an impressive body of work by keeping her clothes on! Kris and Bruce Jenner’s little darling is a full fledged woman and a major supermodel in the making. We have watched Kendall (thanks to “Keeping Up With The Kardashians”) grow from a shy little girl to a major fashionista. This latest photo spread really places a new twist on “The Fabulous at Every Age” concept, instead adapting it to “…Every Era.” Yep little Miss Jenner is going retro showcasing styles from the decades of the Twentieth Century.
Distinguished, dedicated and inspirational are the three words that describe director Bille Woodruff. Few filmmakers attain his level of fame or respect within the industry at large. Since 1991, after directing the favored gospel song, “Optimistic” (Sounds of Blackness), Mr. Woodruff has taken the entertainment industry by storm. Later he added a number of major films to his body of work such as Honey (2003) and Beauty Shop (2005), starring Jessica Alba and Queen Latifah respectively. Bille seems to be able to do it all—even create music videos. In that field he has worked for artists such as Joe, R. Kelly, Britney Spears, and many more! Bill is still on the go and has released a hit television movie for VH-1, “Drumline 2,” and in October, “Addicted” starring Sharon Leal in theaters nationwide. Kontrol magazine had the chance to converse with Bille for an exclusive interview to get a peek inside of his brilliant brain and learn about the man behind the camera.
My friend is not talking to me right now. Apparently, because I don’t follow her advice, she feels I’m a lost cause. I don’t have the best luck with guys (everybody says I attract bad guys), so I admit to making her into my confidante. Still, I don’t always tell her about them for her to advise me. Sometimes I just want to tell her what is going on with me without judgement. Her recent break from my life means she has been judging me all along. I miss her though. Any advice Mikey?

***Angel Baby 5, honestly I’m hesitant to offer you any advice. There’s no guarantee you will follow it. You are what we call an “Askhole!”An Askhole is a person who constantly acts for advice and then does the exact opposite every time. You need to stop! Your friend is not judging you, she is simply fed up with you dumping your issues on her. As a friend she is trying to help you find a solution to your man problems so both of you can have piece of mind. You need to apologize wholeheartedly and change your interaction with her. No more dumping your relationship drama on her and get some real help. Remember you attract what you put out; work on yourself and a good man will come along at the right time.

Everyone’s favorite post-apocalyptic heroine is back! Yep, Jennifer Lawrence has put her acting chops back into “Katniss Everdeen,” delivering another thrilling installment of “The Hunger Games!” This time around Katniss is no longer the pretend darling of President Snow (Donald Sutherland) and The Capitol, but instead truly becomes the symbol of the growing rebellion within each of the remaining eleven districts. As you might remember, District 12 was destroyed in the prior film in retaliation for Catniss’s sabotage of the latest Hunger Games. She, her family, Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and a few citizens of the district were saved but most were killed in the attack. They are taken in by District 13. This district was long thought destroyed in the previous civil war, but has instead adapted to living underground, growing stronger to be able to unite the other districts in war against The Capitol.
