#BlackLivesMatter! Batman Takes A Stand in Frank Miller’s Latest “Dark Knight” Comic, “Master Race!”

Police brutality is a very real issue in our nation. The sheer number of people wrongfully killed at the hands of law enforcement rises by the day. Every medium seems to have tackled it in some fashion or form and now it looks like its time comics take on the issue.  Enter Batman! In the opening of Frank Miller’s latest installment of The Dark Knight series, Master Race, he stops a group of policemen from killing an unarmed African-American teen! The action and social consciousness does not just stop there as over half the issue is dedicated to him stopping a series of potentially fatal course of events all dealing with police brutality.

What  better superhero to handle an issue this complex, this dark, and this dangerous than The Caped Crusader? Although it was created earlier, this issue is released on the heels of officer Jason Van Dyke being charged with the first-degree murder of an African American teenager, Laquan McDonald, who died in a shooting caught on graphic video (See below, graphic footage. “Creed vs. Creed?” Michael B. Jordan (@michaelb4jordan) Talks Sequel to Hit Film!

Can we say “sequel” for CreedWe definitely hope so! The latest installment of the Rocky franchise was a surprising box office hit over the Thanksgiving weekend, debuting third behind Mockingjay and The Good Dinosaur; bringing in an estimated $42.6 million dollars. The film had everything–family, loyalty, amazing fight scenes, and legacy; proving that the nostalgia surrounding the Rocky franchise is as potent as it was nearly thirty years ago. We are definitely hyped for a sequel, and rumor has it the second Creed movie will be a true family affair.

(Spoiler Alert) As you recall, Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) is stated by the media to be the youngest biological son of Apollo Creed, not his only son. In the sequel it rumored it will be “Creed vs. Creed” as Adonis must face one of his older half-brothers in the ring. His brothers are not to happy with him capitalizing off their father’s name for a championship fight. Mary Anne (Felicia Rashad), his adoptive mother, and their actual mother is torn between her sons and stepson making for some family drama that only a drag out fight will fix! This already sounds amazing, and we have no doubt this film too will be a hit.

Michael B. Jordan has come forward to say he definitely would do a sequel. “A character so rich as this, and the world he’s in, I want to see what happens to him next and what he does,” Jordan states. “Especially the way it ends off, it’s pretty cool. I think with success and time and circumstances, it would be exciting to come back and work with (co-stars) Sly (Stallone) and Tessa (Thompson) again.” Okay Hollywood, let’s make it happen. There are a lot of us who are more than ready to see him don those red, blue, and white trunks again. Be sure you catch Creed in theaters nationwide today!

Wonder Woman Movie is FINALLY Filming! New Teasers Released!

gal gadot as wonder woman

Wonder Woman has been the most famous super heroine on the planet for the last seventy-five years. Yet, unlike her DC heroic compatriots, Batman and Superman, she has not had a single film. Some have attributed it to female superhero films not being in hot demand after flops like Elektra and Catwoman. Thankfully the movie gods realized the interpretations of those characters do not live up to the iconography that is Wonder Woman; and that the Amazon Princess deserves her time to shine. As you may already know, filming for Wonder Woman began earlier this week for its 2017 release date! What we know from the official announcement, is the film will be related to the DC Cinematic Universe. We also know it will be part period piece as Diana (Gal Gadot) will be dealing with past and present threats and that Ares, god of war, will be the villain.

Comedy w/ a Side of Realness! Check out the LGBTQ Cartoon Series, “McTucky Fried High!” (@McTuckyFH)

LGBTQ cartoons are definitely on the rise, surprisingly in mainstream cartoons for children. Steven Universe, Clarence, and Sailor Moon  are just  a few popular animated series with prominent LGBTQ characters. However, McTucky Fried High, a web series that deals with serious issues that affect LGBTQ youth with a comedic twist. The series resembles a socially conscious Aqua Teen Hunger Force meets some zany high school drama. Initially when the series came to my attention I was skeptical. As an avid viewer of animation I wanted to see the norm. However, after giving the series and its motley crew of characters a chance I found myself enlightened as well as entertained!

It’s an Iron Man Beatdown! Check Out the Trailer for “Captain America: Civil War!”

Just when you thought it was not possible the Marvel Cinematic Universe just got a whole lot more exciting! Just when we thought Batman and Superman were the only superheroes clashing in 2016, it looks like fellow Avengers and pals, Captain America and Iron Man are going “indestructible shield to repulsor ray!” Why? Well, officially the world governments have tired of superhumans and their vigilantism that may have saved the world, but also caused a lot of collateral damage in the form deaths, near global catastrophes, and an untold amount of destruction. The government wants all of them to register just as Cap and Falcon locate The Winter Soldier, the former’s former sidekick. Although he is seemingly rehabilitated, and ready to become the hero he was meant to be, the government wants him handed over. They seemingly send Iron Man and the Avengers loyal to him after Cap and his defected Avengers. Hence, the “Civil War”a superhero on superhero smack down like we have never seen before.

The Legacy Continues..”CREED!”

When it comes to films nowadays so few are inspiring are worthwhile. Perhaps the film industry finally realizes that and decided to “revive” and old Rocky fan favorite in Creed. As you know the film stars Michael B. Jordan as  Adonis Johnson, the youngest and illegitimate son of Apollo Creed. Born after his father’s death he was raised in foster care until being taken in by Apollo’s widow, Mary Anne (Felicia Rashad). Although she tries to steer him away from the world of boxing, his desire to follow his father’s footsteps are great. Against his adoptive mother’s wishes he moves from Los Angeles to Philadelphia to pursue his dreams. However, he soon realizes he will need some special and major help to make it in the professional titles and seeks out his unknowing “uncle,” Rocky Balboa! This film will make you laugh, cry, and most of inspire you. You will even find that little voice inside asking, “What are you fighting for?”

Michael B. Jordan is an amazing actor. He more than made this movie, he has possibly revived the Rocky Franchise. Having Sylvester Stallone also star in the film and have Rocky train him sort of passed the torch of greatness to him by training him. In a way it makes his character, Adonis, the child of Apollo and Creed, the two greatest fictional boxers ever. This is undoubtedly the quintessential Thanksgiving movie for 2015. I am going to see it again! You be sure you catch it in theaters nationwide beginning Thanksgiving day! “Gobble, gobble!”
