Happy Monday lovelies!
Start your day off by grabbing your cup of joe, sitting back and seeing which fine Hollywood specimen we’ve set our eyes on this week. Actor Mike Colter, who just landed the role of Luke Cage in the Netflix series of the same name, is our #CelebrityCrush for today and after the jump, you’ll see why this man is more than just eye candy.
Mike Colter has a career spanning from the early 2000s beginning with a notable role as Big Willie Little in “Million Dollar Baby” starring alongside Hilary Swank, Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman. He went on to find roles in popular TV series including “Law and Order: Trial by Jury”, “ER”, and “Ringer.”
Over the weekend it was announced that actor Mike Colter will be starring as Luke Cage in the Netflix series of the same name. When asked how realistic Netflix‘s version will be as opposed to Jessica Jones (in which he always plays the character Luke Cage), Colter had this to say:
What I really liked about it is that this was going to be grounded no matter what. We weren’t going to do something that was going to be ‘wow, I can’t believe this.’ It’s not Lost where it’s a real fantasy situation and you can’t believe what you’re seeing. There are superpowers, but for the most part I think less is more, and it seems like you’re dealing with people who are trying to be low key. I really like the idea that I’m not wearing a costume. I’m a street-level hero and I’m trying to work on saving the community. That’s what it is. It’s really grounded, and I’m really happy about that.
Mike Colter is more than just eye appealing, he’s the real deal. If you have seen him in any movie you’ve heard the attention that his voice commands and draws you to. As Luke Cage, I think Colter will bring that same energy to the stage and who knows, maybe a few shirtless scenes too.
