The first season of Supergirl definitely took us by storm. Week after week we got to see Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) navigate human life all the while defending National City and Earth from alien invasions, supervillains, and mind control. Well Supergirl is back for an exciting new season and this time around her cousin is in the mix!
That’s right, The Girl of Steel and Man of Steel will be sharing the Silver Screen together in Season 2! Late last month The CW announced Warner Bros. had given them the green light to use the Last Son of Krypton in the series and cast Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) as the popular superhero.
In the first season we only saw Superman in silhouettes, dream sequences, and from a rear view. Now we actually get to see both Kryptonians together and interacting. However, this family reunion may not be so loving as it has been reported the two heroes will face off!

Knowing that Superman may have a different way of approaching fighting evil than his cousin did in Season 1, watch for some conflict in the new season. “I think that Clark has a very different experience of what it means to have superpowers on Earth,” Schechter said. “He was raised with them, he has certain values so there’s some real head butting and philosophical approaches that are different and we’ll get into all that.”
As we all know Superman can be a bit of a Boy Scout when it comes to crime fighting, something others heroes, like Batman, routinely admonish him for. Kara is still getting the hang of the superhero thing and she definitely does not need her little–we mean older–cousin meddling in her territory. Doesn’t he have Metropolis to look after?
We have to admit Tyler looks great in his costume, but we still prefer Henry Cavill’s Big Screen version of the character. Be sure you catch the season premiere of Supergirl on Monday, October 10 at 8 PM EST!
