The Australian-born rapper, Iggy Azalea can soon add TV Producer to her resume. T.I’s former artist has signed a deal with Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios to produce a series of television shows.
The shows will be targeted towards millennials, and will focus on topics such as social justice, tolerance, and empowering women. According to Iggy,
“Creating television that is reflective of my generation has always been an aspiration of mine. “I am incredibly excited to start working on my ideas and am humbled that Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios have given me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Hmm, I thought she always aspired to be in the “murda bizness”. I guess I was wrong.
Iggy will have a behind the scenes role and will be allowed to participate fully in the creation of the shows. According to Dawn Olmstead, Executive Vice President of Development for Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios,
“Iggy is a strong, passionate voice for her generation and has incredible creative instincts in all aspects of media. “We already have projects in both the scripted and non-scripted areas. We are very excited to have her join forces with us.”
I have to say that I never thought of Iggy as a strong passionate voice for her generation considering that she threatens to shut down her social media whenever there is bad press. Who knows, she might actually create good shows.
So, what are your thoughts? Do you think Iggy is the right choice to represent the millennials or should she hustle up some more music instead? Let me know in the comments.
