DJ Khaled’s (@djkhaled) ‘Major Key’ at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart!

Looks like DJ Khaled might just really have all the keys!

Khaled’s most recent album ‘Major Key’ has just earned him the number one spot on Billboard‘s Top 200 Chart, beating Drake‘s most recent album ‘Views’ that was hogging the spot for twelve weeks!

Billboard reports that this has been DJ Khaled’s largest sales week since 2007, earning 95,000 equivalent album units during the first week of August, 59,000 of them being traditional album sales, according to Nielsen Music. Aside from reaching his highest sales week in almost ten years, this is also DJ Khaled’s first No. 1 album!

Khaled, along with We the Best Music Group and Epic Records, released ‘Major Key’ on July 29. The album’s line-up is crazy, featuring all of the hottest rappers right now including: Jay Z, Future, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Nas, Big Sean, Nicki Minaj,  Young Jeezy, Nas, Gucci Mane, French Montana, 2 Chainz, Busta Rhymes, Fabolous, Lil Wanye, Fat Joe, Wale, YG, Kodak Black, Travis Scott, Wiz Khalifa – and singers Chris Brown, Bryson Tiller, Meghan Trainor and Betty Wright.

I mean, with all of those artists on board and Khaled’s beats and production, how could you not win?

The closest Khaled has gotten to a number one album was when ‘Kiss the Ring’ debuted at number 4 in 2012. His biggest sales week was back in 2007 when ‘We the Best’ made it to No. 8 selling 79,000 copies. Khaled’s single ‘For Free’ featuring Drake on ‘Major Key’ also made Billboard’s Hot 100 chart at the 14th spot.

As far as Epic Records, this is already their second No. 1 album this year after Future’s ‘EVOL’ back in February. ‘Major Key’ is actually Khaled’s first project with the label, since he (and We the Best Music Group) signed a deal with them in April of this year.
