Last week the rumor mill was working overtime about news of Adele performing the half-time show at the next Super Bowl. Fast forward to earlier this week, Adele publicly declines to perform at the Super Bowl. Adele graciously said that she is not a performer like Beyoncé, and basically the half-time show wasn’t her thing. Now, we are hearing a word from the Super Bowl executives. They made a statement saying that it was okay if Adele declined to perform at the Super Bowl because they never invited in the first place. Wow, so much confusion over one performance. Hmm, maybe Adele didn’t know that Twitter invites didn’t count.
The Super Bowl executives also mentioned that the coveted half-time performance hasn’t been booked yet, and they didn’t know who they planned on inviting to perform. Kanye West fans have decided to help the Super Bowl executives make their decision. Kanye’s fans think that he would be a great choice for the half-time performance. Team Kanye Daily has started a hashtag on Twitter and they encouraged all Kanye fans to spread the word. The hashtag Team Kanye Daily created was #KanyeWestforSuperBowl51 and it didn’t take long before social media outlets were flooded with the hashtag. Fans began posting pictures and videos of Kanye performing in a matter of minutes.
So, it looks as if the public has spoken. The question now is will the Super Bowl listen. I must admit that Kanye’s performances are definitely memorable. Kanye’s rants are memorable as well. Kanye has been known to basically go off on a tangent in the middle of a performance or make his whole performance be the focal point of whatever battle he has chosen to fight that week. Not sure if the Super Bowl would be able to quickly censor him during the live performance if needed.
So, what are your thoughts? Do you think Kayne would be a good choice for the Super Bowl half-time show? Do you think he would pull a crazy stunt during his set? Do you think another artist would be a better fit? Let me know in the comments.
