Signal 23 TV’s About Him has truly taken the internet by storm. Instead of breaking it, it has become a phenomenon that in many ways has made Summer 2016 worthwhile. While mainstream cronies were stuck on Pokemon Go! and the ever changing flavors of the week, we were treated to twelve episodes of true bliss and evolution! As you know, About Him is a coming of age story centering about Damien (Brandon Karson), a young gay man who begins exploring his sexuality during his final summer before he begins college. He inadvertently, and unsurprisingly falls for his older brother’s best friends, Vincent (Gary Lavard); which leads to a series of intense sexual trists and drama that engulfs the lives of his family, friends, and most importantly his own awakening about the gay lifestyle.

When we left off on Episode 12, Is This The End, Justin (Rico Pruitt) was angrily confessing his true feelings to Damien at the bookstore. Neither of them liked how things turned out and whereas Brandon was bothered by Justin’s violent reaction to his rejection, Rico was hurt–and crying…rejection bites! Now, in the much anticipated and highly publicized season finale, all the drama, passion, and intensity comes to a head when Damien decides to make amends with Justin just as his play cousin, Kendall (Rahim Brazil) returns for a final visit before heading to school. Our protagonist finds himself in quite the pickle, when Tex (from Episode 6, Lesson On Life, he gave Damien the lesson on how to give head) resurfaces and Damien finds himself double booked with both he and Justin. Damien finds it hard to juggle all three of his suitors, but decides he will hand Kendall off to Tex, while he hooks up with Justin at  the fabled Wicker Park.

Their night gets off to an awkward start when Damien sees Vince with a girl. Thankfully, he has Justin to back him up. After Damien updates Tex on their plans and gets him to take them to Wicker Park. There, their night goes to hell in a hand basket as the police show up! From there things get interesting as each of the men learn what it means to be gay in a world that is seldom accepting. The life lessons, the sex, and heartache you experience during the entire hour and forty minutes is a powerful emotional cocktail of pain, pleasure, recovery, and medicine. At the end of it all you really learn what it means to be gay and “About Him!”

We really urge everyone to check this finale out. The director of the series, Henderson Maddox, has truly turned made a masterpiece! Following the screening was a Q & A session where fans were allowed to ask the cast questions and express their opinions about the show. We were happily surprised with the truly in depth questions from the fans, showing that the series has earned some true diehards since its recent introduction to the world. Henderson revealed the show will begin filming Season 2 in November, is coming to Roku, and his plans to expand the About Him franchise with About Justin and About Her– a lesbian series. It is also rumored an About Us series may be in the work that will explore a polyamorous relationship. Whatever the series may be, we are officially fans of Signal 23 TV and will be sure to show up in full support!
