Having just recently honored the late artist Dash Snow in a capsule range of decks and tees, Supreme pays tribute to yet another influential New York City figure in Blade. For those who don’t know who Dash Snow is the Bronx native is widely regarded as one of the most influential graffiti writers of all time, whose fondness for painting subway trains (over 5,000 in total) earned him the title “King of Graffiti” in the early ’80s. Rather than appropriating known graffiti or giving in to any particular style or trends, Blade painted an imaginative approach to his many works, playing with perspective, abstraction and geometry.
Later, Dash’s artwork would enter the world of photography, having both exhibited and published his works worldwide, along with installations, zines and video work. In fact just as of recently Supreme honored the artist by collaborating with a collection of skate decks. His distinctive sex, drugs, and violence-oriented photographs were complemented by a collage-styled work that featured use of his own bodily fluids and embellishments, like glitter, to prominently decorate pictures of police officers or authoritative figures. As of now however for the fall Supreme has worked with the artist as a commemorative collection including a hooded sweatshirt, long-sleeve and short-sleeve T-shirts, skateboard decks, and a pin, all of which will be available alongside five new graphic tees, including one with Gucci Mane. Check out the full collaboration down below and purchase any pieces from Supreme’s web store and New York, Los Angeles, London and Paris locations starting today October 6. While stores in Japan will release the collection on October 8.
