News hit this week that the one and only actor and comedian Eddie Murphy will be honored with the Hollywood Career Achievement Award at the 2016 Hollywood Film Awards this November!
Eddie Murphy’s career has been a long and quite respectable one, to say the least. Murphy began doing stand up comedy, which he was highly ranked for and was also a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live in the 80’s. He then went on to act in films, and low and behold he was great at that too! Murphy has received all kinds of nominations for many of his different projects and has won awards including a Grammy for Best Comedy Album for one of his first works ‘Eddie Murphy: Comedian,’ a Kid’s Choice Award for Favorite Movie Actor in Beverly Hills Cop II, a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in Dreamgirls and more!
“Eddie Murphy has had a spectacular career as a comedian, actor, writer, producer and director, spanning more than 35 years. We look forward to honoring his extraordinary body of work,” said Allen Shapiro, CEO of Dick Clark Productions in a statement that was released last Monday.
Some more of Eddie’s works include 48 Hrs., Trading Places, Nutty Professor, Harlem Nights, Coming to America, Norbit, Dr. Dolittle, Daddy Day Care and the list goes on! Eddie Murphy has also had outstanding performances in animated movies as well, including ‘Mushu’ the Chinese dragon in Disney’s Mulan and the hilarious ‘Donkey’ in Dreamwork’s Shrek movies.
We figured there is no one better to feature for this week’s Throwback Thursday than Mr. Murphy, and no better way to do it than to remember some of our favorite Eddie Murphy movies!
