Show Time at the Apollo, the original talent competition show (inception 1934), is headed to Fox. The network will air a couple of specials hosted by Steve Harvey . Despite his flub during the Miss Universe pageant, Harvey is one of the most in-demand emcees right now. He has his own talk show, host Family Feud, Little Big Shots, and is set to return to host the Miss Universe pageant.

The special will revive the amateur competition that helped launch the careers of Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five, James Brown, and Lauryn Hill. The event will include a roster of yet-to-be-announced stars.

The singing competition show aired as a syndicated TV show from 1987 until 2008 featuring music, dance, comedy, and other acts. Harvey hosted the show from 1993 until 2000. Variety reports he is excited to return to “home” to the Apollo’s historical stage. He said it’s a homecoming you don’t want to miss.

Many will tune in to see people rub the lucky log, and to watch undiscovered great talent shine as well as the inevitable boos to those who lack skills.

The first special will air on Fox December 5th at 8 p.m. (ET) proceeded by the second in early 2017.
