#Bravo! Sheryl Lee Ralph (@thesheryleeralph) Returns To Broadway!

Sheryl Lee Ralph is returning to Broadway. The Tony-nominated actress (Dreamgirls, 1981) is joining the cast of Wicked. Ralph will step into the role of Madame Morrible on November 1st. She will succeed Tony winner Judy Kaye whose last show is October 30th.

Ralph is a Broadway veteran. She made history on Broadway alongside Loretta Devine, and current The Color Purple star Jennifer Holliday. In 2002, she returned to the stage as a cast member of the Tony-winning musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. She took on the role of Muzzy Van Hossmere. She received great reviews for her performance. Sheryl is best known for her roles as Dee on Moesha, Claudette on Ray Donovan and Maggie on Instant Mom.

Wicked is based on the novel written by Gregory Maguire and takes the audience on the journey into Oz before Dorothy’s arrival. It tells the story of Glinda and Elphaba growing up as girls and how they become Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively.

The Broadway cast currently includes Jennifer Dinoia as Elphaba, Carrie St. Louis as Glinda, Michael Campayno as Fiyero, Peter Scolari as The Wizard, Dawn E. Cantwell as Nessarose, Michael Genet as Dr. Dillamond and Zachary Noah Piser as Boq.
