It was recently announced that the “Fast & Furious” star and rapper Ludacris will be starring in a new action film. The film is called “Ride” and it is a BMX action drama that is based on a true story. The film is an inspirational story based on BMX Champion rider John Buultjens. As a young teen, John was on the path of destruction; fortunately, he was shown a different way of life when he was taking into foster care by a young interracial couple. John suffered from many emotional wounds, and his new foster father bought him his first bike to try to help him overcome his struggles. John’s foster father taught him that riding a bike could be just like flying and how it could represent freedom.
Ludacris is set to play the foster father in the film while Shane Graham will star as John Buultjens. Sasha Alexander will play Ludacris’ wife and other cast members set to be in the film are Ali Afshar, Bryan Craig, George Kosturos, and Jessica Michelle.
Alex Ranarivelo will be directing the film and its script was co-written by Ranarivelo , Hadeel Reda, Jean-Marie Sobeck and Jack Reher. The film will be produced by Forrest Lucas and Ali Afshar’s ESX Entertainment. This is the same production team that created “American Wrestler: The Wizard”. “American Wrestler” is an inspiring coming of age story starring Jon Voight, William Fichtner, Lia Marie Johnson, Gabriel Basso and Ali Afshar. “American Wrester” recently won the audience award at the Austin Film Festival. “Ride” will make the sixth collaboration for Lucas, Afshar, and Ranarivelo. The dynamic trio has also teamed up to produce and direct “Running Wild” which stars Sharon Stone and “Praying For Rain” which stars Jane Seymour.
There is no word yet on when the movie will begin production or when the public can expect its theater debut.
So, what are your thoughts? Do you think it will be interesting to see Luda play such a different character from the “Fast & Furious” series? Let me know in the comments.
