Homecoming is usually an event that all students and alumni look forward to at any school. It’s a chance to catch up with old friends and show your school pride. The homecoming festivities can be ordinary or extravagant depending on the school. Some schools hold nothing back during homecoming while others hold events that are forgettable. If you have never experienced homecoming at a Historically Black College/University (HBCU), you are definitely missing out on a great event that will have you talking for days!
This past weekend, Spelman College and Morehouse College celebrated their homecoming and it was an event that will go down in the history books. The event was kicked off when an “Almost Christmas” food truck arrived on the Morehouse College campus. The students and tailgaters gathered around the food truck to partake in the delicious sweet potato pies, but the food truck didn’t contain just goodies. The students and tailgaters were surprised to see Keri Hilson serving them from the food truck.
The next event that was anticipated by the crowd was the Step Show. The students, alumni, and tailgaters were able to see their favorite fraternities and Sororities stomp their way to bragging rights for the year. Keri Hilson hung around for the festivities and even showed the trailer for her new movie “Almost Christmas”. Keri also talked about the experience she had during the filming of the movie.
“Almost Christmas” is about a family coming together under one roof for the holidays and hoping they all make it through the holiday season without killing each other. The film will also star Mo’Nique, Gabrielle Union, Danny Glover, Kimberly Elise, Omar Epps, Jessie Usher, J.B. Smoove, Nicole Ari Parker, Romany Malco, DC Young Fly, and John Michael Higgins. The film will hit theaters nationwide on November 11th. In the meantime, you can check out the official movie trailer below.
