Set against the backdrop of a sprawling Memphis megachurch, the journey of estranged daughter and disillusioned preacher Grace Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge), who has returned home after 20 years on the occasion of the mysterious death of her sister, Faith. As she re-enters the world of Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, the Memphis megachurch run by her powerful parents Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David) and Lady Mae Greenleaf (Lynn Whitfield), it becomes evident that things are not as virtuous as they seem and that the family’s outward display of faith hides sin and misdeeds.
According to Deadline, Rick Fox will play a character named Darius Fox, a handsome reporter covering the latest round of scandals at Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, with a liking to sandbagging high church officials in the parking lot, hoping to pressure them into blurting out something memorable.
Rick Fox’s new role is sure to stir up some controversy on the show and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together. OWN has definitely been bringing great scripted series back to television from “The Haves and The Have Nots” which stars the gorgeous Tika Sumpter and “Greenleaf’ to it’s most recent success with “Queen Sugar” which stars former Kontrol #CelebrityCrush Kofi Siriboe.
Production on the second season is currently in progress in Atlanta, Georgia and they are gearing up for a season premiere sometime in Spring of next year. Greenleaf is produced for the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) by Lionsgate in association with Harpo Films and Pine City.
