All fans of the hit show Power were devastated last night as we all watched J.R. Ramirez’ character, Julio’s untimely death.

Not to worry though, Ramirez will be back on the small screen soon enough as he joins the cast of Netflix series, Marvel’s Jessica Jones. Netflix and Marvel announced today that the Power actor will be a series regular on the show as Oscar, a single father who is the new superintendent in Jessica’s building. Oscar seems to tread lightly with Jessica as he is not too sure about her powers, while his son is very intrigued by it.

Based on the Marvel Comics character created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as the troubled super-powered private investigator. Ritter can next be seen as Jessica Jones on The Defenders, which arrives next month on Netflix.

Producers are happy to have J.R.Ramirez on board with the show. Executive Producer, Melissa Rosenberg is rather enthusiastic about his new role. “J.R. is an incredible addition to our cast, bringing complex and subtle emotion and humor,” Rosenberg says. “He exudes warmth, edge and intelligence, and blends perfectly with our tone.”

We are excited to see J.R. Ramirez transition from the hard core drug dealer we grew to love in Power, to the devoted, protecting single dad in Jessica Jones. We are totally tuned in to see how J.R. will tackle this new cast and excited to feel the energy that he will bring. We will be watching! Jessica Jones season 2 is set to return to Netflix some time in 2018. Stay tuned.
