Starring Jason Statham (“Spy,” “Furious 7,” “The Expendables” films) and award-winning Chinese actress Li Bingbing (“Transformers: Age of Extinction,” “Forbidden Kingdom,” “The Message”) are back in the science fiction action thriller “The Meg,” directed by Jon Turteltaub (the “National Treasure” movies, “Last Vegas”).

In the film, a deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific…with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that, years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below…bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time.

Rounding out the international main cast of “The Meg” are Rainn Wilson (TV’s “The Office,” “Super”), Ruby Rose (“xXx: Return of Xander Cage,” TV’s “Orange is the New Black”), Winston Chao (“Skiptrace,” “Kabali”), Page Kennedy (TV’s “Rush Hour”), Jessica McNamee (“The Vow,” TV’s “Sirens”), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (“The BFG,” TV’s “The Missing”), Robert Taylor (“Focus,” TV’s “Longmire”), New Zealander Cliff Curtis (“The Dark Horse,” “Risen,” TV’s “Fear the Walking Dead”), Sophia Shuya Cai (“Somewhere Only We Know”), and Masi Oka (TV’s “Hawaii Five-0,” “Heroes”).

Turteltaub directed the film from a screenplay by Dean Georgaris and Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber, based on the New York Times best-selling novel by Steve Alten. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (the “Transformers” films), Belle Avery (“Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead”) and Colin Wilson (“Suicide Squad,” “Avatar”) produced the film, with Gerald R. Molen, Randy Greenberg, Wayne Wei Jiang, and Barrie Osborne serving as executive producers.

Turteltaub’s behind-the-scenes team included Oscar-nominated director of photography Tom Stern (“Changeling,” “Sully,” “American Sniper,” “The Hunger Games”), Oscar-winning production designer Grant Major (“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” “X-Men- Apocalypse”), editor Steven Kemper (“Salt,” “Mission: Impossible II,” “Face/Off”) and costume designer Amanda Neale (“Truth,” “Pete’s Dragon,” “What We Do in the Shadows”).

Filming on “The Meg” was accomplished on location in China and New Zealand.

“The Meg” is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures and Gravity Pictures. It is production of di Bonaventura Pictures, Apelles Entertainment, Maeday Productions, Inc., and Flagship Entertainment, in association with Beijing Digital Impression (BDI) Film, Inc. “The Meg” will be distributed in China by Gravity Pictures, and throughout the rest of the world by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Entertainment Company. It is slated for release on August 10, 2018.

Yesterday we reported that Warner Bros. was looking to recast the role of the superhero, Cyborg, originally played by Ray Fisher after a very strenuous and controversial separation.

It is now being reported that Warner Bros. has now opted to write Cyborg out completely, removing him from the upcoming “Flash” movie starring Ezra Miller.

“Justice League” actor Ray Fisher, who was offered a cameo role last June to appear as Cyborg in “The Flash” solo movie, publicly stated he did not want to be involved with the project via Twitter, hence the character of Cyborg has been written out of the screenplay and will not be recast, according to insiders with knowledge of the situation.

Fisher publicly resigned from the role last week in his continuing beef with DC Films President Walter Hamada, who is overseeing “The Flash.” The actor tweeted on Dec. 30, “Walter Hamada is the most dangerous kind of enabler. He lies, and WB PR’s failed Sept. 4th hit-piece sought to undermine the very real issues of the Justice League investigation.”

Fisher added in his tweet, “I will not participate in any production associated with him.” Of note, Hamada did not oversee the “Justice League” production and was not the head of DC Films at the time, nor was he employed during the film’s initial release.

Hamada first joined DC Films back in 2018 and lead the division to the release of its highest-grossing film to date, 2018’s “Aquaman,” which banked over $1.4 billion at the worldwide box office. On Tuesday, it was announced that Hamada had reupped his deal as president until 2023. Fisher called the news “reactionary” in a tweet later that day.

We hate to see Ray Fisher leave the DCEU; but as fanboys we hate to see Cyborg will not be appearing in The Flash film. As we posted in a previous article there are a number of young Black actors who should have been recast for this role, even if it was just a cameo.

WB Reportedly Recasting “Cyborg” for Future DCEU Movies!

The DC Extended Universe (DCEU), DC Comics collection of recent movies jumpstarted by 2013’s Superman has been plagued by lackluster plots and low fan approval for years. Even their latest film, Wonder Woman 1984, has been critically panned.

However, more controversy is brewing in the DCEU now as it being reported that Ray Fisher will no longer be portraying “Cyborg” in its shared universe of films, and his role is currently being recast.

As you may recall, Ray has been quite vocal with his distaste for the executives and directors over the superhero films at Warner Bros.; alleging racism, favortism, and non-professionalism.

There is no news yet in who they may be eyeing for Cyborg, but it will be necessary. The hero has come to prominence over the years as a mainstay of The Justice League and was set to have a standalone film in the coming years.

Superhero roles are quite coveted in Hollywood nowadays. Here is a short list of who we think would make a great candidate for Victor Stone/Cyborg:

daniel ezra

Daniel Ezra

Daniel Ezra plays “Spencer James” on The CW’s “All-American.” There he plays a gifted football player, something Victor Stone was before his accident spurred his father to save his life with cybernetics. Daniel definitely would bring some serious muscle to this hero.

da'vinchi

Da’Vinchi

Da’Vinchi is an amazing young actor with the looks and physique to play Cyborg. Like Daniel Ezra he too plays a gifted football, and on Freeform’s grown-ish he was basketball star, “Cash Mooney.” We stan for Da’Vinchi he’d be bring some rather suave and debonair qualities to Cyborg.

niles fitch

Niles Fitch

Niles Fitch’s fame hails from being the teen and young adult version of “Randal Pearson” from NBC’s hit series, This Is Us. Niles has already played a superhero of sorts in Disney’s “Second Born Royals” and definitely can do all the athletic feats it requires to be Cyborg!

[Reese] Witherspoon will return as the starring role [of “Elle Woods”] and will produce the film through her Hello Sunshine production company, alongside returning producer Marc Platt. While no director nor other returning cast members have been announced (although Luke Wilson has told us he’s ready for the call), we know that TV comedy writers extraordinaire Dan Goor and Mindy Kaling will be writing the script together.

We are ecstatic about the news of a new sequel for the Legally Blonde franchise! We hope all the cast members will return, especially Jennifer Coolidge. A few ladies from the cast reunited virtually to raise money for a noteworthy cause.

…the cast of the hit romantic comedy “Legally Blonde” reunited virtually on Tuesday,19 years after the film came out in July 2001, to raise money for World Central Kitchen.

During the event, the panel, which included WitherspoonJennifer CoolidgeSelma Blair and other cast members, reminisced about shooting the movie — and shared some behind-the-scenes secrets about an iconic scene.

We do, however, hate we have to wait until May 2022 to reunite with Elle ourselves. However, we understand COVID-19 may have played a role in its delay in release. We will keep you posted as more on Legally Blonde 3 becomes available. Now to find something PINK!
