It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment.  Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.  Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission.  Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before.  Welcome to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Stars Pratt and Howard return alongside executive producers Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.  They are joined by co-stars James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall and Isabella Sermon, while BD Wong and Jeff Goldblum reprise their roles.

This final trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is EVERYTHING! We surmise that this threat that could harm the planet as a whole is none other than a super volcano! Super volcanoes are large volcanoes that if they should erupt could put enough soot and ash in the atmosphere that the Sun would be blocked out for years! I guess we will have to see how Owen and Claire are going to fix/solve this dilemma! Happy viewing!

Disney & Pixar’s “Onward” is a “Quest” for Closure

Disney and Pixar always have a way of making films that are hilarious, heartwarming, and above all us tearjerkers! The latest installment to their family of CGI films, “Onward,” is no less amazing or emotional! It’s a coming of age story that transforms one brother and still closure, for another.

Disney and Pixar always have a way of making films that are hilarious, heartwarming, and above all us tearjerkers! The latest installment to their family of CGI films, “Onward,” is no less amazing or emotional! It’s a coming of age story that transforms one brother and still closure, for another.

Grade: A

The story is set in a fictional world technology has taken the place of magic. Magic is all but forgotten and out of practice, until two elf brothers, Ian (Tom Holland) and Barley Lightfoot (Chris Pratt) are left a magical staff by their late father on the former’s birthday. The staff possess The Phoenix Crystal, a magical gem that can resurrect a person for a single day. Somehow, the crystal breaks and only revives the lower half of their father. At Barley’s behest–and his love of magic–the two go on a hilarious, but heartwarming “quest” to find another Phoenix Crystal to fully revive their father before their day with him runs out. There are pixies, booby traps, a manticore (a mythical beast typically depicted as having the body of a lion, the face of a man, and the sting of a scorpion.), a centaur stepfather, and even a dragon! Still through it all there’s brotherhood. We love it!

“Onward” is definitely a film for the entire family. However, it addresses the loss of a parent and closure, two issues seldom discussed so thoroughly in a film targeting children. Losing a parent can leave a whole in someone’s heart. For people who have not lost their parents, you will find yourself cherishing them, and for those who have it may force you to confront lingering surroundings their death. The last real film to address the loss of a parent actually came from Disney and Pixar as well, “Coco.” Similar to “Onward,” it is a journey of two family members on a quest of restoration which ultimately becomes one of closure.

There is not a single moment of the film you will not enjoy with characters so layered and sweet you will probably love them for the rest of your life. Tom Holland and Chris Pratt really prove they can do it all–be superheroes (Spider-Man and Star-Lord, respectively from the Marvel Studios films), save the world, and even do voice acting! Chris revealed in a recent interview how he relates to his character, Barley. “I was Ian and my brother was Barley,” Pratt said at a press conference. “My brother, for instance, always wanted to be an actor. He did plays. I was like, ‘Wow, that’s amazing. Being an actor is awesome. I want to be an actor.'” Tom, however,  is no one’s older brother. In reality, he is instead the oldest of four siblings. Thus he does not relate to his Ian being in that manner. He does however reveal his younger brothers have learned one very important lesson from him. “How to be gracious losers when they lose at golf — that’s what I’ve taught them,” Holland said. “I’m a terrible loser, so they’ve learned what not to do from their big brother.”

Spring is almost here, and what better way to start it off than with a little brotherly love. Be sure to catch “Onward” in a theater near you today, and nationwide!

Universal’s ‘Invisible Man’ is Monster Movie Magic!

If you’re a fan of monster movies, you may have given up hope after Universal’s failed monster mash franchise kick-starter The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise. This movie proved that big names and big budgets don’t guarantee stellar reviews. So when Kontrol Magazine received an invitation to see a special Atlanta screening on Wednesday, February 18 of Universal’s next monster flick, The Invisible Man, I was leery.

Grade: A+

From the moment the movie began, it was evident that writer-director Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man was going to be something different. One of the film’s actors, Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time), made that clear in her in-person introduction about the movie. Whannell, along with his partner in crime James Wan, helped redefine the horror genre with Saw and Insidious. The Saw films, in particular, pushed the boundaries of on-screen cinematic violence and helped introduce the term “torture porn” into the modern vernacular.

Whannell’s The Invisible Man is a thoroughly modern thriller that sidesteps the previous H.G. Wells adaptations do what Whannell does best: elevate the genre and scare people. The movie has been screened for critics, and they’re taking to social media in droves to report that The Invisible Man is the real deal — a tense, terrifying thriller grounded in real-world issues and featuring a performance for the ages from Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale).

Critics have every right to go absolutely bonkers over The Invisible Man. Moss stars as Cecilia Kass, whose boyfriend Adrian was both a wealthy tech genius and manipulative, abusive partner before apparently committing suicide. Cecilia eventually becomes convinced that he has returned to torment her as… well, an invisible man, although she understandably has a hard time getting anyone to believe her.

The Invisible Man Critic Reviews

  • Critic Witney Seibold was one of many to praise the film’s examination of the dynamics of abuse while also standing in awe of just how damn scary it is — and how much Moss sells Cecilia’s mounting terror. “[The Invisible Man] is not just one of the most tightly-wound thrillers in recent memory, but it is a pertinent and all-too-real look at the panic and damage left by an abusive relationship,” she tweeted. “Elisabeth Moss digs deep.”
  • We Live Entertainment editor-in-chief Scott Menzel concurred. “The Invisible Man is a tension filled thrill-ride from start to finish,” he tweeted. “Elizabeth Moss delivers a… captivating performance that is… some of her finest work to date.”
  • The Playlist’s Griffin Schiller called the film “a modern horror classic… Poignant & timely, packed full of edge of your seat anxiety inducing suspense! Sound & production design are MASSIVE standouts but Elizabeth Moss OWNS this film.”

The Invisible Man, which also stars the amazing new talent, Storm Reid, and the sexy Aldis Hodge, opens February 28, 2020. The response from critics and everyday moviegoers is setting an apparent theme: Monster movie magic is in the air. This film has all the ingredients to be one of the year’s biggest horror hits.
