This life we live is all about growth and for one web star that is happening exponentially! We all know Rahim Brazil as one of the actors and resident hotties of About Him: Freshman Year, but as we have mentioned in a previous interview the man has a knack for being talented at just about anything. Well now, the web star has donned two new hats–director and showrunner–with a brand new series he also wrote himself, Twisted!

Twisted is not only the brainchild of Rahim Brazil, but is now a highly anticipated web series set to debut this fall on DreamHouseTV! Check out the extended trailer Rahim’s production company, Big Dreams Productions, recently released below!

Rahim, Rahim, you can truly do anything! This trailer is nothing short of awesome. It is definitely riveting and keeps you in suspense. Most importantly, it makes us want to see more–a lot more! We see a number of new faces and a few familiar ones in 7th & Love stars, Martel Star and D.J. Gibson, and About Him Season 2: The Revolution and Raising Eli’s Chris June (that boy stays BOOKED!)

We were able to get a behind the scenes peek at the show and we have to tell you that these actors are WORKING. Each of them are talented and are bringing their A-game on set. We are definitely giving this our stamp approval before it debuts–and not because we love ourselves a good web series–but because we love a great one. We feel that even though this is Rahim’s directorial debut he will knock it out the park. You heard it here first, Twisted will leave you squirming for more!

Congratulations to Rahim and his amazing cast! We will be tuning. All you make sure you do too! Happy viewing!

The number of Web Series continues to BOOM! It is hard to believe that just over a year ago About Him started what would become one of the fastest growing genres in entertainment today. Bawn TV continues to make its stake in the genre with newer series like Cheetah In August, About Him: Freshman Year, and soon, District, starring reality television maven, Tami Roman.

This fall however, things continue to heat up for the network with their latest announced series, Blackville, starring Web Stars, Chris June (About Him season 2: The Revolution, raising eli) and Rico Pruitt (About Him, About Justin, L.I.T.)!

According to a log line from Bawn TV the series centers on the son of a preacher who finds himself in turmoil wrestling with his religious beliefs and upbringing or the freedom of self-expression. The first episode, tentatively titled, “Sermon 1 (Luke 15:11-32: The Prodigal Son) will center on the Blackville family being in shock as their eldest son, “Cameron,” returns home. Chris June was born Chris Williams and raised in Largo, MD to a single mother. The arts embraced Chris from a young age, indulging him in creative outlets frequently. Theatre, drawing, and even designing clothes in high school were just some of his endeavors. However, it wasn’t until drama class that he’d find belongingness in his ability to embody characters. After a few years, he’d cleaned up his gift and go on to Salisbury University where he’d obtain his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Why a degree in Psychology do you ask? June goes on to explain how he puts to use his degree through every character he portrays on television and stage.

[PHOTOS/EVENT RECAP] Signal 23 TV’s “About Him Season 2: The Revolution” Premiere Party!

gary lavard

It has been a wild ride as we counted down twenty-three long days to the season premiere of Signal 23 TV’s About Him Season 2: The Revolution!

Well now the show is out and Sunday night we were in the mix of one amazingly poppin’ premiere party! It all went down at Atlanta’s very own Suite Food Lounge.  Media sponsored by Rolling Out, The drinks were wonderful, the ambiance was positive and crazy cool, but the best part was meeting the amazing cast of this highly anticipated web series! Yep, our boy Gary Lavard is back as the face of About Him in a new role, with a set of new and familiar faces to tackle homophobia, isolation, and true love against the backdrop of the AIDS epidemic of the eighties.

The Series

As you recall, the new season of the series on the network will not be a continuation of the first season. Gary Lavard is now “Dustin,” a gay college student hopelessly in love with campus hottie, “Armani” (Chris June). For Dustin it is love at first sight and he wants nothing more than to be with his dream boy, but is haunted by memories of homophobia and his own painful lessons in what it means to be Black and gay in this time period. Dustin is inquisitive and hopeful, but like so many gay men has filled his emptiness and pain with man after man. He prays Armani is the one. His prospects finally seem to be looking better when he finds himself in an African-American Studies class with Armani and the two reluctantly hit it off–with a little nudge from his best female friend (or friend-girl, as The Kidz like to say).

The budding couple’s pleasure is soon tainted by pain, however, when while trying to hook up they witness a hate crime so graphic and vile you will feel your heart wrenching. For Dustin love will always be “About Him,” but he may soon learn everything comes with a price and sometimes with a fight. Let The Revolution begin…

We have to say this is by far the best web series we have yet to see. It was worth the wait and anticipation. The story line’s timing is right on, especially in a renewed age of social activism. This series reminds us of darker times when being gay was deemed wrong on every level and systemic homophobia was rampant. Henderson Maddox has truly outdone himself with this piece of work. Be sure you subscribe to Signal 23 TV’s Vimeo  to catch the first two episodes now by clicking here! Happy viewing!

The Premiere Party

Our very own Michael “Hey Mikey” Fanning was on location to check out the premiere party and screening and the web stars were out in full effect. Gary Lavard, Valerie Payton, Sherrod Willis, Rion Deshon, Darius Lavale,  and Zahir Roberts along with newbies, Corey Thompson, Levi Erik, Danny Rowe, Jaquay Wilkerson, Thomas Mackey, and Toni Bernard were all there in full effect! Check out some of the pictures below!

How many times can we say that Tyson Anthony is a true genius? Definitely once more, because it has never been truer!

The writer and creator of About Him, who also brought us Pharm: The Series and Entercourse is back with a second season of his hit web series, Raising Eli!

tyson anthony's raising eli

When we last left off in the first season finale Eli (Chris June) seemed to overwhelmed with personal, romantic, and financial issues. Meanwhile, Travis (Monnie Isham) and Shad (Desmond Fletcher) grew closer, bonding over pizza, video games, and general laziness. Elsewhere, we learned King (Desjuan Zaire) suffers from social anxiety disorder. In the second season a few months have passed and things seem to only have gotten even harder for Eli. He was evicted from his house and has moved into a home his grandmother left for him–with Travis in tow. To make matters worse his insensitive and obnoxious cousin, Monte moves in too when his lack of finances threaten to have their home foreclosed on.

[VIDEO/TRAILER] The Boys Are Back–Tyson Anthony’s “Raising Eli” Season 2!

If we have not said it before then please allow us to yell it from the rooftops (and put this in all Caps!), “TYSON ANTHONY IS THE MAN!”

Yep, your favorite writer and web series guru, Tyson Anthony is back with a new season of his hit show, Raising Eli!

When we left off last season it seemed like Eli (Chris June) had reached his boiling point after a series of stressful events. Besides having the son of his “sort of ex-boyfriend,” Travis (Monnie Isham) needing a place to stay, he was wrought with job offer rejections, bill collectors, and then repeated rejection from his love interest, King (Desjuan Zaire). Meanwhile, Travis found himself drawn to Eli’s complacent, and bisexual, neighbor, Shad (Desmond Fletcher) who dreams of being an actor, but loves his weed, Netflix, and chilling a little too much to be productive!
