#FashionCrush-Met Gala edition

Loads of A-listers showed up and showed out at last night’s Met Gala.

Comme des Garcon by rei Kawakubo as featured in this years Met Gala

This year’s theme was all about the living legend and uniquely talented Rei Kawakubo and her label Comme des Garcons.  Having started the company in 1973, Kawakubo’s Comme des Garcons collections have impressed many a fashion lover with it’s avant garde aesthetic and distorted proportions. The name translated means “anti-fashion” which ironically has been the driving force behind the label’s success.

This being said the avante garde theme of this year’s Met Gala gave the celebrities in attendance the perfect excuse to turn up the shock and awe. There were lots of amazing looks but a few of them in particular had me smiling from the inside out.

I couldn’t post without mentioning my boys Jaden Smith and Luka Sabbat.  It was no shock that these two would eventually find themselves in a picture together.  This is perfectly fine with me seeing as how I’m low-key obsessed with them both. Jaden wore his go to label of choice Louis Vuitton, where he formerly was house muse. Smith accessorized his look with a diamond encrusted grille as well as his newly shorn blonde locks.  Luka Sabbat, who still has his locs, chose to don a bold red tuxedo by Dolce & Gabbana Alto Sartorio (Dolce & Gabbana’s mens couture line). Sabbat, who is currently starring in Dolce & Gabbana’s spring ad campaigns, was a perfect mix of sartorial elegance and laid back cool.

Speaking of Jaden, his ex Kylie Jenner took my breath away.  Say what you want about her, Kylie was nothing short of perfection in her Atelier Versace creation. Platinum blonde bob and Donatella Versace as her accessories, Jenner was the queen of the night.

Last but certainly not least I have to give it to my girl Rihanna. The “Phresh off the Runway” singer was sort of “fresh off the runway” having chosen a Comme Des Garcons piece straight from their fall 2016 runway collection. You gotta hand it to her, not many people can pull off wearing a byzantine conduit of fabric in assorted colors and prints.  No surprise, consequently the pop singer could have walked down the carpet wearing a burlap sack and would still have looked better than half the women there.

#Fashion Crush- Anna Dello Russo (@annadellorusso)

When discussing a high next level sense of style, it wound be hard not to acknowledge the flamboyant, over the top, super glamorous spectacle that is Anna Dello Russo.

Anna Dello Russo at the Met Ball in 2011

As the editor-at-large of Vogue Nippon(Japan), Anna Dello Russo utilizes every opportunity to step out in the most coveted runway looks. A true fashion darling, Russo has become renown for never wearing the same outfit twice.  Once an outfit is worn, it is then archived at her other apartment, which was only purchased to house her ever plentiful wardrobe. And the born and bred Italian never disappoints.  Adopting the aesthetic of her homeland, Anna Dello Russo, the constant maximalist, can always be spotted in a full runway look and one of her signature fascinators.  I can’t help but to admit that I can respect the lady for her dedication to fashion.  To commit to never wearing the same thing twice must take as much diligence as it does money.  When asked why she doesn’t like to repeat looks she playfully exclaims in her Italian accent: “How else are you gonna please the blogger?”

With a major influence on the fashion world, it was no wonder that the fashion chain, H&M, looked to Anna Dello Russo to collaborate with them on a limited edition collection of accessories back in 2013.   The playful, wacky, yet elegant collection of bracelets, earrings, and shoes were a true representation of the fashion diva’s unique style.

A jet setting life, a neverending the wardrobe, and a white hot career, Anna Dello Russo has a life that many sit up at night and dream about.  But when asked if she could only save one outfit in the fire which would she do. Anna Dello Russo had a surprising answer;  “I wouldn’t save an outfit only shoes because I always felt like I could be naked but only with the right pair of shoes.”

Jay-Z (@S_C_) Ready To Spill Some Tea–We Mean Lemonade– Too?

After presumably being dragged through the mud by his wife and BeyHive General, Beyoncé, on her highly praised Lemonade” project, Jay-Z is looking to spill a little D’USSÉ of his own. The Jigga-man may be getting ready to shed his own light on to the speculations of his unfaithful ways during his relationship with the hottest chick in the game wearing his chain.

A close source to the couple told US Weekly that the 46-year-old mogul is ready to share his own tea on the situation. “Jay is working on an album telling his side of things,” the source says.

Jay Z and sister-in-law Solange Knowles had an altercation at a Met Gala after-party May 5 that was caught on tape. It all went down in an elevator where the 27-year-old sister of Beyonce can be seen clawing and kicking at her brother-in-law as the "Halo" singer looks on. It's unclear what caused the argument as there is no sound on the black and white surveillance video, shot after the group attended a soiree at the Boom Boom Room at New York's Standard Hotel. Legend has it that the infamous elevator show-down between Hov and Solange, Beyoncé’s sister, back in 2014 at the Met Gala was due to him being extra flirty with designer and Dame Dash’s former fling Rachel Roy, conspiring what is now “Lemonade”.

Although Matthew Knowles, Beyoncé’s father, says the emotions of the album aren’t necessarily personal, but relatable, it looks like Jay and Bey aren’t going to miss out on this primetime-series drama money that has been building out of the speculations. What do you think Jay-Z will call the project? I’m sticking with D’USSÉ (you heard it here first). Stay tuned for more developments.

Rita Ora (@RitaOra) & Beyoncé (@beyonce) Take “Family Photo” at Met Gala

Rita Ora‘s letting everybody know there’s nothing she needs to be sorry for. The British singer used the Met Gala 2016 as an opening to snap a “family” photo with Beyoncé successfully killing the rumors that she is “Becky with the good hair.” Ora took a selfie with Beyoncé inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night and posted it via Snapchat, adding the words “family” with a heart emoji. The photo op came  a week after Ora was suspected of being Jay Z’s mistress in Beyoncé song  “Sorry” off her new album Lemonade.

Ora, formerly Jay Z’s  protégé, took to Twitter last week to deny being “Becky. “I never usually address tabloid gossip but let me be clear, these rumors are false,” said Ora. “I have nothing but the utmost respect for Beyonce. Let’s continue enjoying Lemonade.” With her tweets combined with this pic, I’m certain she’s proven herself innocent of the rumored affairs. Plus it doesn’t hurt that she looked absolutely stunning in her custom Vera Wang Collection gown with a feather train that goes on for miles accented with silver hair tattoos and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Well Rita, that’s one way to keep the Beyhive off your back but they might be setting their sights on Beyonce’s husband, Jay Z, who did not attend the Met Gala as her date this year.

In #Lemonade News, Beyonce Has Been Calling Rachel Roy (@Rachel_Roy), “Becky,” For Years & Solange (@solangeknowles) Popped Off on Beyonce (@beyonce) at 2014 Met Gala Too!

“Who Is Becky?” It has been over a week since Beyonce debuted her new album, Lemonadeand all anyone can think of is the identity of Jay-Z’s alleged mistress. Some have pointed to singers Rihanna and Rita Ora, but most signs point to fashion designer and Damon Dash’s ex, Rachel Roy. Although Rachel has come forward to say she is not Becky, she only brought all of this on herself when, as you may recall, she alluded to being the other woman. Well according to Love B. Scott and Radar Online, Bey has been calling Rachel, Becky, for years now, not wanting to ever say her name.

via Love B. Scott & Radar Online:

“‘Becky’ has actually been a nickname that Beyonce has called Rachel for years,” a source close to the Lemonade singer told Radar. “It isn’t just a generic name for a girl.”

The source also told Radar that Beyonce uses the “Becky” nickname “so she never has to say Rachel’s name.”
