Summer is here and that means blockbuster movies are coming!
Although we will see a ton of superheroes, aliens, monkeys, and monsters, none of them can compare to Wonder Woman!
Yep, as you already know Wonder Woman will be a period piece, set during World War I, detailing the origins of Diana (Gal Gadot), The Amazon Princess, and her introduction to Patriarch’s World (Earth as we know it). This marks Wonder Woman’s second appearance on The Big Screen, and her first stand alone film. Check out the final trailer below!
This final trailer is EVERYTHING! You really get to see just how bad ass of a warrior she is. She is almost as strong as Superman and on par with Batman in fighting skill, but willing to kill. This makes her one of the more dangerous members of The Justice League (coming this Fall). This trailer really dives into the mythos of Wonder Woman, explaining her origins, her people, The Amazons, and her mother, Queen Hippolyta.
Superhero movies are all the rage right now in the film industry. Our summers, and holiday seasons, are now dictated by Disney and Warner Bros., courtesy of the characters owned by Marvel and DC Comics, respectively. Every now and then an indie superhero film pops up and we are pleasantly surprised. In the case of Sleight, however, we were not!
First, Sleight is NOT a superhero film by any means.
Second, the story is very slow–slow to build, slow produce, and slow to deliver any worthwhile connection to the film. The plot centers around, Bo (Jacob Latimore), an intelligent young man whose life takes a darker direction when his mother suddenly passes and he has to raise his younger sister. He takes to the streets become a street magician and drug dealer. His former occupation is described as him performing “tricks,” feats that appear to be magic but are actually courtesy of an electromagnet he has embedded in his arm (think low grade Tony Stark when his arc reactor began poisoning him). He soon finds himself in over his head when he double crosses Angelo (Dule Hill), the drug lord who employs him, and must find a way to protect himself and those he loves.
There’s a new class at Winchester University!
Watch the official trailer above for the highly anticipated Netflix series, ‘DEAR WHITE PEOPLE’, created by Justin Simien and adapted from the 2014 film.
Dear White People is 10-episode series that will premiere on April 28th starring Logan Browning (Hit The Floor), Antoinette Robertson (The Haves and the Have Nots), Brandon P. Bell (Dear White People original film), Deron Horton (Burning Sands), John Patrick Amedori (Almost Famous), Ashley Blaine Featherson (Dear White People original film) and Marque Richardson (Dear White People original film).
When you think about having a need for speed and animated movies, there’s only one Pixar– film that should come to mind.
That’s right everybody the “Cars” film franchise is back for another installment and this time, we’re putting ladies first!
Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician with her own plan to win, inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet, and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!
Of course, Owen Wilson will be back reprising his role as Lightning McQueen but for this third installment, we’re adding a couple other movie big shots to the roster. Kerry Washington, Bonnie Hunt, Lea DeLaria and Katherine Helmond are just a few of the ladies joining the already star studded cast. I love that they’re adding diversity to a film that centers around such a male dominated sport.
All hail the Ape King! Caesar is back and his battle against humanity ups the ante in the third fourth installation of The Planet of The Apes, and third prequel, in War for The Planet of The Apes! When we last left see Caesar and his apes, humanity had been decimated by the same virus that made apes intelligent. After a conflict caused by Caesar’s traitorous lieutenant in the last film has become a full fledged war between apes and mankind.
Although The Monkey King is hesitant to destroy humanity due to his lingering love for the human who raised him, he soon realizes some of them will never stop until they have eradicated all apes. The war for Earth is on and it looks like neither side is backing down. Family, friendship, and survival–it’s all high stakes in War for The Planet of The Apes! Check out the trailer on the next page!
Yep, these two stars are heating up Netflix with their new hit film, Deuces!
Deuces centers on a drug dealer of the same name, played by Larenz Tate. The man is a virtual drug lord who has his city on lock, earning him the ire of the local law enforcement and envy of those around him. Lance Gross is “Jason,” a new hustler on the streets trying to infiltrate Deuces’ crew. However, trust is a rare commodity as the heat intensifies on Deuces and his crew, putting the city’s most notorious criminal in an increasingly more dangerous and desperate spot. Check out the trailer below!
We definitely are feeling the hell out of this film! The trailer looks amazing. Hopefully it will be picked up as a series as Netflix can never have too many original series. Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Productions is definitely making some major moves! Thanks to Larenz’s role in the upcoming fourth season of Power, and Rotimi’s appearance on this film, however, you get a feel of Starz’ hit series. The cast of this film is what really draws you in, however. Rick Gonzalez, Meagan Good, La La Anthony, and Rotimi are amazing actors, and we cannot wait to give you a full review of the film. Flavor Unit’s deal with Netflix may very well usher in that Living Single reboot we have all been clamoring for! Only time will tell. Just be sure you tune in tomorrow April 1st!
