It is hard to believe it has been almost a year since About Him took the internet by storm. Since then the hit web series has experienced a few “growing pains,” but it has managed to stick around the for the fans that made it a runaway hit last summer. Even more exciting is Brandon Karson reprising his role of “Damien” in the series! However, just because Brandon is back that does not mean things are the same for Damien. Our boy has grown up and he is headed to his first year of college in Tyson Anthony’s About Him: Freshman Year!
Last night, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network celebrated the second season of the hit series “Greenleaf” with a screening and after-party in Atlanta.
It’s a new day and a new debut in About Him history. Brandon Karson and Rahim Brazil are back in About Him: Freshman Year as “Damien” and “Kendall,” respectively. After the wild summer we all watched and fell for in the first season the boys are now ready to start college. This means new faces, new friends, and definitely more drama!
In case you didn’t know, the first episode of the new season dropped this morning and we already love it! Kendall is back up to his old tricks, and his powers of seduction have only gotten better. Meanwhile, Damien is determined to blaze his own path on campus; steering clear of his brother and Vince– and men in general. That may be a lot harder than he realizes when he meets a “friendly” senior.
Earlier this year millions were wowed and floored by the first season of WGN’s original series, Underground! Set in the 1860s, the series centered on the “Macon 7,” a band of runaway slaves on a mission to freedom in the North. Along the way they are aided my members of The Underground Railroad while being chased by slave catchers and Norther deputies. The series won us all over and garnered a second season to debut this Wednesday, March 8th!
We know that means more story lines and new characters. One in particular really peaks our interest–Ernestine’s (Amira Vahn) new love interest! Yep Mama is getting a new boo! Played by Hit The Floor’s Rob Riley, He recently posted this hot picture to his Instagram.
As you may recall, at the end of the second season Ernestine’s fate is left uncertain as her mistress has decided to spitefully place her on the slave auction and keep her youngest son, James, for herself!
The character of Ernestine is a trooper, and Rob Riley is an amazing actor no matter what role he assumes. The sex scenes of Underground are very steamy so perhaps will get to see some of his skin as well. We know plenty of women–and men–who won’t be complaining. Be sure you tune in!

ABC’s Quantico is nothing short of a mega hit! This amazing series entailing the professional and personal lives of FBI and CIA personnel is nothing short of riveting. Starring Priyanka Chopra, the show is action picked, suspenseful, and has story lines with plot twists so unexpected that soap operas would run for their money! Quantico is now in its second season, and that means new motives, new story lines, and most importantly, new characters. Meet Pearl Thusi, South African actress, model, radio, and television personality, and now the latest addition to this series’ amazing cast!
Kontrol Magazine was able to snag an interview with the starlet as she explains the ins and outs of the show as well as her riveting new role. She admits she was not an avid viewer of the series initially but has since caught up. “When I got the role it was not airing in South Africa yet, but I had heard good things about the show. The online streaming channels were not available where I was so I was only able to watch snippets online. However, I was able to watch all of it before shooting began.” As a series regular on Quantico, Pearl portrays “Dayana Mampasi,” a competitive, driven, and focused lawyer who is recruited by The Farm (CIA training ground). She is set as Alex’s (Priyanka Chopra) roommate who from almost the beginning makes it very clear she is not interested in making friends.
However, Thusi does admit there are some surprising similarities and differences between she and her character, who on the series can be quite cold. “It is often necessary to share traits with any character you play and of course take on other traits they exhibit. We’ve both suffered tremendous loss and use work to cover it up and deal with it when necessary. I am often told that I’m very strong and hope I apply that strength to Dayana’s character. Dayana is also extremely brave and intelligent and I like to think I’m all of those things too. Another way we are similar is that she is also very loyal and has created an almost perfect coping mechanism for dealing with her ghosts. One way I feel that we are dissimilar is that I consider myself a lot more fun and enthusiastic.”
Tyson Anthony’s About Him: Freshman Year is already setting itself up to be a mega-hit?
How? With a super trailer that would make any of the Love & Hip-Hop previews blush! As we have mentioned in previous posts, Brandon Karson is BACK as “Damien,” along with Rahim Brazil as “Kendall,” (“Hey cuzzo!”) and a few new handsome faces that have us all going gaga!
The second season of the series is set in Damien’s first year of college and it looks anything, but typical. Damien is out on his own away from Vince and his big brother, Marion, but that does not mean he is out of trouble! The super trailer is going to leave you wanting to see more, know more, and of course binge watch these episodes like a new Netflix Marvel series! Check it out below!
In the words of a girl stuck in the nineties, “Aww sookie, sookie now!” Tyson Anthony and Bawn TV really are a match made in heaven. If this series is anything like Tyson’s others (Entercourse, Raising Eli, Pharm: The Series) then we already know we will truly be entertained. The cast looks amazing, Brandon and Rahim are good in just about anything together–their chemistry and brotherhood on and off screen is admirable. Desmond Fletcher is a welcomed addition to the cast. We loved him in Pharm and on Raising Eli. He definitely has the “skills” to keep us tuned in.
You can check out my interview with the entire cast about this upcoming season by clicking here. Just be sure you are tuning in next month as we bring you interviews with the guys. There will be lots to discuss, watch, review, interview–and as always–tea to spill, as the kidz would say. Leave your thoughts on the super trailer below! Are you excited for About Him: Freshman Year?!

Signal 23 TV continues to deliver some amazing stories to its viewers. Last summer it brought us About Him, and Fall of last year it debuted Steel River: When Were Young, a prequel to the original Steel River series that put Signal 23 TV on the map! Faithfully and diligently, we have been tuning into see watch William (Will), Kadoe, Ivan, and Addison ten years in the past as they grow to become the men we know and love. Beyond the drama, sex, intrigue, and craziness; viewers are really getting a taste of what it means to come of age while being Black and gay.
Just when we thought the series could not get any wilder though, a new character, played by Sherrod Willis, has been tossed in the mix!
Hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan and growing up in Chicago, Sherrod is an amazing addition to Steel River: When We Were Young. Besides being the newest cast member of the series, he is a rising star who has dreamed of the spotlight since his freshman year in college. “I was in a performing arts group back in Chicago and we did little skits and stuff like that, or promotional videos and I think I took an interest in it then. I never really knew what do or where to go so when I moved down here to Atlanta I saw a web series [Kaleidoscope} I wanted to be a part of and went from there….” Sherrod’s enthusiasm and willingness to go after his dreams stems from his desire to be the best version of himself possible. “I always knew I w anted to be something great–somebody great–but I know that depends on me…” Indeed, Sherrod’s raw talent shined through on his debut episode, “Due Process,” as his character, “Jackson,” not only forced Will (Alex Jante) to confront his sexuality, but seduced and coerced him in one of the hottest sex scenes in web series history!
As “Jackson,” he portrays the soldier brother of Will’s girlfriend, who as the series eludes to in another conversation is “trade.” (via Urban Dictionary; A man who messes around with other men, but no one would ever know by looking or talking to him. Used by gay black men to identify masculine gay men or DL Brothas.) Sherrod goes on to state ,“You’re gonna love him [Jackson], he’s a different type of dude, and I love playing him, and the waves he’s gonna make in the story line kinda make you jump!” Although he admits his episode’s sex scene was hot, he feels the scene between Ivan (Rion Deshon) and his trade love interest (Tripp Ali)was hotter. “They really went in on that. It was just so realistic, like I know people who have told me that they’ve hooked up in a shower or bathroom, or know someone who did. Rion and Tripp are amazing actors, so i gotta give it up for them [he laughs].”
